What started as preparation leg strength and endurance training for snowboarding has turned into a year round lifestyle. WoS is not anti-car, it is pro-bike – a substantial difference versus the attitudes of the Critical Mass purpose of some twenty years ago (1990s). In November 2009, I sold my car to make a 100% commitment to the pro-bike lifestyle. I was curious of the effects from disconnecting from the dependency of a gas-powered vehicle, the stress of rush hour commuting, and the feeling that every time I put gas in the tank, it was money in the bank.

Now, over thirteen months after I sold my car, a huge burden was lifted off my shoulders. My physique and mindset has changed for the better, I am allowed more creative freedoms, efficiency is at an all time high.

You’ll look at food not as colories, but as energy – fuel in your tank. You’ll enjoy every single day with a renewed vigor – confidence abounds – fresh air and blue skies are blissfully uplifting – not to say that wet downpours, misty fog, freezing mornings or nights, and headwind are not enjoyable – because you eventually do acquire a taste for it! To say that bicyclists are masochists is not far from the truth, when you finish a ride and your legs don’t burn, you’ll yearn to ride more to achieve that burn.

To the uninitiated, we welcome you into the fold. This isn’t a trend or fad, this isn’t greenwashing which is politically correct, we don’t need to fight for what is already ours. One level up from walking with your God-given legs, riding a bike is the simplest, most efficient, mode of transportation – and it’s free for all. Food for thought, a zero-cost experience that rivals the thrill of a sports car, rev-for-rev, is racing a bike in pursuit of your fellow man. I promise no sports car can ever make you feel more alive or get your heart throbbing as hard.
