Producing this event took much more time than I had anticipated. But, of course, that's how everything works. After looking at the evening's photography, it was worth it all the way. The idea for the party started on the evening that the Temper RACINGMIX CD was released - on 05.05.05. ZTYbeats.com was published to distribute the CD and I was exhausted, happy, and relieved to overcome my discerning self-imposed standards. My free time, since returning from Taiwan & Hong Kong, was entirely devoted to the CD project. I got a phone call from Heidi that evening and she suggested "throwing a party to share your music, spend time with your friends and give them a chance to buy your CD." It sparked my imagination right there and got rolling on finding the venue. The last party I threw in 2003 was at Fuse in North Beach, San Francisco:  great people, music, staff and  the generous owner, Ray. He was the first person I contacted in searching for the venue and funny, for a week, I was literally staring at the phone, as it's been some time since last communication. Chillin' on Heidi's porch one incomparably beautiful Saturday, with a stellar blue sky on an afternoon I should have been at work, I hit send and got Ray right on the phone. He suggested his buddies over at Element Lounge because the kind of party I wanted to throw was "big but not too big" and the space would be perfect. Unfortunately, I couldn't get a hold of them because they were out of town and due to time constraints, I looked into Maximum Productions, visiting one of their many venues, Dragon Bar, and coincidentally, it was a few doors down from Fuse. The owner, Max, was open to the idea of the party and I awaited the contract. Turns out Max had previously booked the night for a fund raiser and offered another venue, Mr. Smith's, as an alternative. This is about a week and a half before the night of the party so I was on edge. Though brand new and luxurious, Mr. Smith's location in SOMA wasn't ideal for my party.  Within a day, Neej from Element Lounge called and offered the evening. Without going over any details, Neej and I locked the party and he invited me out to the Armani Exchange party that Friday evening so I could check out the venue for the first time. Hot spot it was: an exposed brick, wood, brushed stainless steel and candlelit lounge.  Element Lounge is conveniently a block from  Mel's Drive-in, so I made a point to hook up an All-American grease-fest after the party. As the weekend concluded, the rollercoaster ride began over DJ schedules and bringing heads out to the party. One step at a time I told myself regarding the guests: most were East Bay heads and honestly, very few of them have ever been exposed to House music. My aim as a DJ was to cross guests over into the underground genre of House with a juicy, concentrated taste of my everything-musically since 1999. My aim as the host was to ensure they had a good time. Rules were set: no emails or instant messages to invite  - my aspiration was to call everyone personally. Fortunately, I have dedicated friends who are with it, and I didn't get many "Maybe, I don't know, I have work the next morning" excuses. Hey, everyone works the next day! This type of event only happens once - get it right. Heidi got angry at me because I was in a blue funk, stressing 24-7 over the party when I "should be having fun." She also  confirmed that I was needlessly worried, a perfectionist and didn't seek help from others. Chin Check; she was right; I asked her for help and she offered to get all the heads from CAL Berkeley. Their Spring 2005 commencement had just taken place weeks before and after being holed up in their dorms and apartments, studying all semester, they were enthusiastic to get out. The event turned into a multi-faceted celebratory party to everyone's delight. I couldn't ask for anything more - to see the variety of new and familiar faces show up together, some from as far as Palo Alto, Sacramento and even Texas, and yes, they all had work the next morning. The night came alive as people from all walks of life put down the mouse and came together on the real. Big thumbs up & thanks to all who came and brought a gang of friends, you made it a night to remember: Albert, Alec, Amanda, Andy, Annie, Carlos, Calvin, Charles, Christina, Christine, Chung-min, Cindy, Ed, Eelsun, Eilean, Elisa, Erik, Erin, Gerardo, Greg, Heidi, Helena, Hong-Tzu, Hope, Howard, Issy, Jay, Jen, Jere, Joe, John, Julia, Kat, Kent, Kohta, Mack, Mai, Marcus, Martin, Matt, Mia, Micah, Mike H., Mike W., Myra, Neej, Patrick, Peter G., Peter T., Rachel, Roosh, Russell, Ryan, Scott, Shaun, Sunjay, Tomakazu, Tony, Trevor, Via, Victor, Wenjia, Wilson Tam, Zach and friends, new and old. - Wilson
